Privacy policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
In short: Polandroid collects no personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no server: the app does not even have permission to access the internet. Your photos stay on your phone, and only leave it if you choose to save them to your gallery or share them.
1. Who we are
Polandroid is published by Tals, a French sole proprietorship (micro-entreprise), SIREN number 109 647 354.
Contact: tals.enterprise@gmail.com
Tals is the data controller only for the limited data it may receive, described in section 5.
2. What stays on your phone
The following is created and kept only on your device, in the app's private storage. Tals never has access to it:
- the photos you take and the drawings you add to them;
- the albums you sort them into;
- the caption printed on photos: free text, date and place, if you turn them on;
- your settings (language, format, style, theme, sound, etc.).
This data is deleted when you delete a photo, clear the app's data or uninstall it. Photos you have saved to the phone's gallery (Pictures/Polandroid folder) remain there after uninstalling.
3. Permissions
Camera (required)
Used to take photos. Images are processed on the phone and sent nowhere.
Approximate location (optional)
Only requested if you turn on the "Place" caption option, and only used to write the town where a photo was taken on it. When you take a photo, the app reads your approximate position and turns it into a town name using Android's built-in geocoding service. This service is provided by your phone's system (usually by Google) and may send the approximate position to its provider to look up the name; that processing is governed by Google's privacy policy. Only the town name (or, failing that, rounded coordinates) is stored with the photo, on your phone. You can withdraw this permission at any time in Android's settings.
Vibration
Used for haptic feedback (shutter, print ejecting). No data is involved.
4. Sharing and saving to the gallery
A photo only leaves the app when you ask it to:
- Share opens Android's share menu. The photo and a short accompanying message are passed to the app you pick (messaging, social network…), whose privacy policy then applies.
- Save copies the photo to the phone's gallery. It then becomes available to other apps you have allowed to read your photos, and may be synced by a service such as Google Photos if you have turned it on.
5. The only data Tals may receive
Buying the app
The purchase is made on Google Play, which processes the payment. Tals never has access to your payment details. Google provides Tals with order information (for example order number, date, country and amount), used for accounting and, where relevant, to answer your support requests. Legal basis: performance of the contract and Tals's accounting obligations. This information is kept for 10 years, the period required for accounting records under French law.
Crash reports
If you have agreed, in Android's settings, to share diagnostic data with Google, Google may provide Tals, through the Google Play Console, with crash reports and aggregated technical statistics (device model, Android version, etc.). They do not allow Tals to identify you and are only used to fix bugs. Legal basis: Tals's legitimate interest in providing a stable app.
Your messages
If you email Tals, your email address and message are used to reply to you, then kept for at most 3 years after your last exchange. Legal basis: Tals's legitimate interest in answering your requests.
6. Android backup
If backup is turned on on your phone, Android may include the app's data (photos, settings) in your Google account backup. This backup is encrypted and managed by Google; Tals has no access to it. You can turn it off in your phone's settings (Google > Backup).
7. No selling, no advertising, no tracking
Polandroid contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. Tals does not sell, rent or transfer any data.
8. Children
Polandroid is suitable for all ages. Since it collects no data, it collects no data about children either.
9. Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port the data Tals holds about you (section 5). To exercise these rights, email tals.enterprise@gmail.com. The data in section 2 is only on your phone, so you can view and delete it yourself at any time.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), or with the authority of your country of residence.
10. Changes
This policy may change, for example if a new feature requires it. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. Significant changes will be mentioned in the app's release notes.
